been awhile since this was asked, but never answered here so:

i was there at the lean-to today, i didnt look behind it, but inside was a bow saw (to cut up dead or downed firewood) and i believe there was a small/tiny shovel like a trowel (pretty sure but not certain). Did not notice a larger shovel.
There were also tattered pages of a logbook with some interesting/entertaining/juvenile entries.

Another quick question. Do you know if there is a shovel at the lean-to? I have a backcountry shovel but have seen shovels at some of the lean-tos.

I am thinking about staying at Bouton Memorial this winter and have a few questions:

1. Is there a privy?
2. Are there tent sites?
3. What direction does the lean-to face?
