  • Got a Spot Gen3 for christmas (a bit early)

I'm pretty excited. Mountain wolf got it for me and I just activated it. A little piece of mind for both of us. I was inspired by folks here on the board and would like to thank them for sharing.

If anyone has any stories to share about their experiences with SPOT, I'd love to hear it!

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side...
    It's the climb

I've only been able to use mine on one trip. A three day backpacking trip and batteries held up just fine. It does tend to lose the GPS signal in heavily treed areas. Aside from that, did what it needed to do. Was peace of mind for family at home, and a bit of entertainment.

it's worked well so far, though obviously all I'm doing is tracking and sending out the I'm ok message.
