Hi......I have a question I am hoping you can help me with. I live far enough away that most of the sales staff at my local stores don't know where the adirondacks are. so I come to you for help. I have a pair of zamberlan vioz 996 boots. I know most use insulated winter hiking boots but would my boots be ok with big wool socks for a single peak hike? of course staying home if it's really cold.
    thanks for your help

you should be fine unless it's very cold and you stop moving for a long while

Instead of one heavy pair of socks try a light pair [maybe a liner] and a medium weight pair. They should be warmer and drier than one pair and two pair helps prevent blisters. Be sure your toes are not squished in the boots.
