Some woman can hike all 46 in a bikini! Just don't fall to your death!

Some more details and pics here... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...=1490&ito=1490

Pics reveal that proper footwear wasn't exactly a priority for her. But I have to assume she was carrying warm clothes and gear on what sounded like a multi-day backpacking trip otherwise she risked dying from exposure each night. Sad story.

And Bunchberry ... no reason you can't hike in a bikini. I say HYOH.

Hiking in a bikini is so outdated.
    You need to dream bigger.

I'm actually a little surprised that they were the first. Kind of figured somebody would have done this back in the heyday of Camp 4.

Well if it hadn't been posted on social media before it mustn't have ever happened.

Oops, the heyday of Camp 4 occurred when we were still using rotary dialing telephones

While we're on the topic of Darwin award winners, anyone remember this guy? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...ts-hypothermia

Its great that he was doing it for awareness of a medical condition, but now people are really only going to remember this effort because of his medical condition: hypothermia.

I guess a space blanket could double as a cape. I always tuck one in my Superman briefs when I go near-nude spelunking. Should work for hiking too.

So he was hiking to raise awareness and (presumably) money for dementia.......and he was doing it by forgetting his clothes? There's a joke there somewhere I'm just too polite to tell...

No Fat Man Hiking, that guy left his brain at home

FWIW, I read the young woman only posed in a bikini briefly on each hike, and was otherwise clothed with appropriate gear.

Yup - further reading indicates she didn't actually hike in a bikini, as a rule? She was by all accounts a "properly" clad, very experienced hiker who changed into a bikini for summit fun. The nickname Bikini Hiker sounds like that's all she ever wore, that's what I thought too at first.

Article from Boston Globe about the Bikini Hiker:

      https://www.boston.com/news/world-ne...ini-hiker-dies

She was fully clothed when she fell and found wrapped in a space blanket.
One of the links in the story shows her gear scattered on the forest floor.
Reading her quotes, it seems she was a competent hiker.

Fully clothed climber. Probably bikini underneath and stripped down on the summit. Had to be. Thanks.

Could TVBS photo 1 from the scene of her, dead? Don't think so? Thinks so? Maybe?

Yes, sounds like she was fully clothed in this instance.
The Globe page says the picks on TVBS were near the spot she was found.

I just saw another story where they presume hypothermia was what ultimately did her in.

Personally I don't care what she hiked in as long as it wasn't what led to her untimely demise. A bikini isn't any worse that the sports bra/spandex booty short combo that I've seen all over the high peaks, or the males who are only out there in little trail running shorts and no shirt. Wearing less is better if weather permits. Her footwear in the pictures I've seen are much more of a cause for concern. Did she really hike in those Muck type boots, or did she pack those all the way up to the summits as well?

Agreed. , I'm certainly not one to complain when running into ladies in the sports bra/booty shorts combo (nor do I take issue with guys in the short shorts). Be comfortable.

Gigi was unable to move her legs... So we know she had to face the scary combo of injuries and exposure to the elements. I am curious if her autopsy results will be translated and reported on.

My last hike (October), saw a guy hiking basically topless except for an unzipped puffy vest. I guess it is a "layer", technically.
    Working...
