Ice report. Parking area pretty icy but it had gotten plowed. Road to register sanded w/ occasional small icy spots. Lake Road is >=95% ice w/ sometimes a little crust on the sides. Wore spikes all day starting from the AMR gate. Trail to Colvin better than hoped for. Cutoff to Gil Brook manageable. Gill Brook trail still has long stretches with good crusty coverage the step-ups are icy, all the steep climbs are icy but we managed. Worst ice is on the steep downslope to Colvin-Blake Col. Climb to Blake was good a few icy spots but no huge expanses of ice still got base there. The steepest section just before the climb begins to let up was most ice but we went up climbers right OK. Bottom line bring traction gear.

Saw few people. Passed one climber to Colvin in G-10’s. Talked to a couple guys that had climbed to Dial and they said very icy.

Nice to see you on the trail. I was the one in the G-10s. Kahtoolas didn't have enough purchase for me.
