Cliff was the worst mud I encountered in doing the 46!

I was there June 8th.... you are 100% accurate with your expectations. I did them both and it was a mud fest most of the way. The approach to Cliff was very boggy, and it's always nice to encounter shin deep mud at 3,900 feet like you do on Cliff. All in all it was a tiring day for me (I did both), and took me 14 hours of snails pace hiking as I nurse an objecting back. If you can find the energy do both, lest you'll be repeating the exact same hike again to hike the orphan. Hiked again, I would stay at uphill lean-to and enjoy the entire areas offerings, my hike was the marathon I was looking for though.

Heading out to tackle one or the other, possibly both on 6/22. Anybody been there recently? I'm expecting mud, mud, mud, up, mud, up, mud, bugs, up in that order. Pretty close?
