Ok, here's the new spread sheet. I've been able to add a lot of new lean-tos located on State Land outside of the Adirondacks and the Catskills. Mostly these are lean-tos located along the FLT, NCT, and LP, but there's a few others as well. (Attached spreadsheet is at the bottom of this post)

I've also added a new section of day-use only lean-tos.

Couple of questions: Highland Forest County Park, Watkins Glen State Park, and Buttermilk Falls State Park all have lean-tos, but I couldn't find any reference as to whether or not overnight camping is allowed in them. The FLT goes through Watkins Glen State Park, but the trail guides that I used didnt make any mention of these shelters. Additionally, the shelter in Highland Forests were referred to briefly as "day shelters" without any further explanation. The lean-tos in Buttermilk Falls State Park are accessible via a side trail from the FLT/NCT. Does anyone have any additional information on overnight camping in these parks? Until I find out more I'm listing them as day use only lean-tos.

Or to eat lunch in when it's raining! I originally wasnt going to include them, but I decided to anyways for completeness, so people don't think that they are left off the list, and so to educate people that camping isn't allowed in them.

Oh yeah, and concerning my goal to spend a night in each lean-to... Right now by my count, I'm at 66 out of 295... just over 21% of the way there!

Also if anyone has any trouble opening this in excel, let me know. I made it in Open Office Calc, but it should still work with excel.

Found a few more lean-tos that will be added in a future version:

Out Back Inn in Italy Hill State Forest.

Evangeline on private property in Steuben County.

Unknown lean-to in Letchworth State Park (anyone got a name and/or an exact location for this one?)

Unknown lean-to on the Darien Lake Conservation Trail (name and location for this one?)

Hesse and Camp Sam Wood lean-tos on the FLT (anyone know what management area these are in?)

Wildcat, Fingerboard, Willem Brian Memorial, West Mountain, RPH, Morgan Stewart Memorial, Telephone Pioneers, and Wiley shelters all on the AT. Anyone got any information about any of these that might be in State Parks and not just on the AT corridor? I think West Mountain might be in Bear Mountain State Park but I'm not sure.

There are a couple more "day use" shelters in the Lake George WF.

About two miles south of the Black Mtn. Point shelter is the Commission Point Shelter. It is accessible by land. There are also day use shelters on several of the islands in Lake George, a long swim or a nice canoe ride away.

                  Wow! Very comprehensive!

I believe the old Bradley Pond LT was replaced and the new LT is in a slightly different location and called Santanoni LT.

I think there are more in Harriman. Based on my maps, I think I see 10 (as opposed to the 3 on the spreadsheet). I know there were more than 3 when I was tramping around there a couple years ago.

                              Higley Flow State Park Lean-tos

There are two smaller lean-to's - (approx. 9' x 6'), in Higley Flow State Park, (1,000 Islands Region):

                              1. Warm Brook (Completed in 2000)
                              2. Beaver Pond ( Completed in 2005)

I worked on the construction of both of them!

Interesting, but my goal is to avoid sleeping in any Adirondack lean-to ever. So far, 100% successful.
