  • JBL lean-tos

So I wasn’t aware that could reserve a lean-to from the JBL, I was checking out their website. I have never used a lean- to but would like to do it at some point. How many lean-tos are there?

There are 3, across John’s Brook from JBL. Goodwin and Myers have nice views of the Brook, Crandall a bit more privacy.

You can even pay for meals and eat at JBL.

I am looking forward to this.

Our first backpack last year, a buddy gave me an old 1999 top brand backpacking tent. It weighed 5.5 lbs. Awful. Immediately bought a tent that weighed 2.5 lbs packed.
          An amazing difference for sure.
Staying at a JBL lean to and not needing the tent is something my back will be grateful for.

That said: carrying a tent in the HPW would not be as bad if bear cans were not required. I am in full support of bear cans despite their added weight. The added weight sucks. But, it's a small price to pay to not get mauled.

Bear canister rental is included with the rental cost of the lean-to, so you don't have to carry one. Pick one up when you check in at the JBL.

Depends on how many nights you're planning on staying.

Also, to note - JBL has grills on the porch. Bring some frozen burgers, dogs or a steak for night one.
