    Weekly Photo Theme: Tree Growths/Burls

    Occasionally we come across an interesting looking growth on a tree. These "burls" formed due to some stress on the tree (disease, fungus etc.). They come in different shapes and sizes and are prized by woodworkers for creating unique pieces that fetch high prices. Sometimes trees are shaped distinctively by their habitat (high winds, elevation, terrain etc.) which makes us understand better the physical pressures of life in the wild. Feel free to post any interesting tree features (burls, deformities, shapes etc.) photos. Enjoy the pics!
