Pragram Descriptions

Our "Adoption Programs" are divided into two catagories: Active and (E)ducational. Active programs are ones are programs that are set up that have a direct inact and interaction within the Sentinel Range Wilderness resource. Educational programs are designed to give readers general information about topics that can be used/followed that will help them to enjoy not only this wilderness resource, but any of the other wilderness resources in the forest preserve. Some of the links point to sites outside this website, so make sure to return when your done.

4) Wilderness Navigation - Traditional -
This is educational link an great article on the traditional navigational skills of terrain Association, observational Navigation, map and compass work can be used to successfully navigate through the untracked, adirondack wilderness. A must read for those planning on spending much time in the Sentinel Range Wilderness Area.

5) Wilderness Navigation - GPS assisted-
This is educational link, similar to the one above, except this one blends terrain association, observational navigation with GPS technology. It was written as a adjunct piece to the one above. Again, for those that have and use GPS technology, this is a good companion piece.
