Whiteface highway 1/5

Yesterday Charlene and Dali and I skied the Whiteface road. Well, actually, Charlene and I skied while Dali ran along. This has to be the best way to wear a dog out. Right Bruce? Conditions were great up to the hairpin turns then it got pretty icy. Charlene turned around at the Placid turn and Dali and I continued to the top. I was able to keep my skis on to the castle and then climbed the stairs in my x-country ski boots without a problem. Dali wore her built in crampons. Back at the castle I put the skis on until I got to the Wilmington turn. I walked this turn and then put the skis back on for the rest of the trip down. Views were pretty good today. Wind was gusty but not terrible. Dali ran the 5 miles down the road in about 40 minutes. Slept the whole way home. Too bad it is warming up. Great ski conditions. Several people snowshoed up the road and the trail.
