Windham glider crash

With more than two weeks of vacation days left in this year I have been taking Wednesdays off and hike the Cats. Today decided to do Windham. Weather was beautiful with all the snow melted. Trail was wet and muddy. When I got to the first view point coming from Peck Rd PA I ran into the glider that crashed couple weeks ago. I completely forgot about it. The glider slammed into the viewpoint's bolder. With all the places he hit the bolder right in the middle. Looks like they were trying to fly over the top and cliped the wing on the tree. Just 5 more feet and we wouldn't have another crash site in the Cats. Here are some pictures.

Your photographic evidence contradicts the statements I read that the wreck was helicoptered out! Odd ....

Imagine just sitting there and witnessing this glider coming at you! Pretty wild. Wonder what is up with these newspaper reports?

Wow, I came off WHP shortly before this happened. Several people were on they're way up when I came down so they obviously witnessed it in some fashion. I had no idea it was so close to the trail. I posted in a prior thread that the wreckage was taken away by helicopter, which I'm almost positive I read in The Daily Freeman report of the incident. Maybe I misinterpreted the article?

Thanks for sharing the photos.

I'll never again be able to fall asleep in the sun up there. Maybe they should put whistles on gliders so you can hear them coming
