Would you believe??

I was just cooking some Crab Fettucini with Parsley-Mint Sauce to dehydrate and store. It calls for 1/2 cup of fresh parsley so i wnt out to my garden and harvested some...in JANUARY!!

Too bad I harvested and dried my basil in the fall. It might still be growing.

Amazed that some spices are still around. My parsley froze months ago. The Rosemary, which seems to be the most frost resistant, froze one dy when it hit -1F, but I was still able to get some afterwards.

Still, it's warm. The weirdest thing: The ground is not frozen. Snow pretty much disappeared yesterday.

IT was in the mid 60's yesterday with scattered rain showers. For the most part the sun was even shining which is rare for this area in winter. This morning it is 50 Will winter ever come? Not that I am complaining I hate shoveling snow

Beautiful mid-70's and sunny down here in VA. I miss winter! On the up side the nice long bike ride I got in is certainly extending that aspect of my training far deeper into the winter months then it usually does.

Well, it didn't get above freezing today... And it looks like I was wrong. The ground IS frozen, just not the top couple inches. Someone said that it's supposed to snow tonight.

So, I guess we're better off than you guys.... Snow did come last night, and everything is white and wet.

Yes, very wet. In montreal, only few degrees less and we would have nice snow falling.

I bought snowshoes for my daughter's birthday gift, and she really doesn't get it... What a *&%*#& winter !

mud season preview

Jane and I were down on the Outer Banks on Saturday, first time ever. It was way too hot for me. In fact all weekend I slept at my daughter's apartment in Norfolk with the windows wide open and no coverings. Couldn't even sit still without breaking into a sweat. Hmmmmm, maybe the perfect conditions for Neil's thongwear.

Anyways, at one point Jane swung wide to pull a U-turn on the road and I instinctively said "Don't pull over too far. You never know how soft it might be." Well, of course I was ignored and she successfully negotiated the unpaved shoulders of the road, once again proving (to herself) me to be a worry wart.

But my instincts aren't without foundation. This morning in the (now closed) Keene Motors parking lot was a mini-van, front end plunged into the mud up to it's frame. It had apparently pulled off the road, crossed the paved portion of the lot, and as soon as it hit the unpaved area...kerplunk.

Makes me wonder how the Corey's road is THIS week?
