Does anyone have first hand information on how much snow fell
in the high peaks this week? Hiking tomorrow and debating the snow shoes.

I'd bring them. There was enough snow on Debar Mountain today that I wished I had them. About 3-4 inches of fresh snow at the lean-to, which is at about 2,400 feet, and nearly a foot of fresh snow (up to 2 feet in drifts) at the summit, which is at about 3,300 feet. I can imagine that there's more higher up in the High Peaks...

Definitely bring the shoes. I did the Dix Range today and needed snowshoes most of the day. A foot or more on the herdpaths and snowshoes were helpful as low as 2,500 feet to avoid energy wasting postholes.

Hiked Giant and RPR today, did not need them. Maybe 3-4" at most in some areas between Giant and RPR in AM. Microspikes were fine. Our tracks had turned to slush by the time we headed back. On those trails, much of the ice and snow was gone by late today.
