AT lollipop around Tyringham, MA

What a pretty little country town, seriously would look at property if it wasn't so damm far away from Pittsfield... But did a hike from Main St over Cobble hill, past the Shaker Camp to Jerusalem road and back, taking part of the Cobble Hill Loop trail on the way back. A very beautiful meandering stream at the start of the hike gives way to some really nice open countryside and a pretty hill called Cobble Hill. When I think of the Berkshires, I think Tyringham is a gem, really pretty and quiet despite being pretty close to I-90. This is a section a bit south of Upper Goose Pond which I explored two weekends ago.

Didn't see anybody all day, but followed some old tracks. the last person to sign in at the journal at Shaker Camp was back in January but there was definite signs of trail usage since then and the snow was pretty crusty but the sun was really warm and was just a beautiful day today..

Cobble hill is very nice! Next stop is checking out Beartown SF and the AT through it...

Uhm Jay, Tyringham is one of the most expensive places to live in Berkshire County, second only to Richmond and Williamstown. Be prepared for astronomical real estate prices if you go shopping!

The Tyringham Cobble is a beautiful spot, but Hop Brook is favorite in the valley. Nice brook to fish for trout.

You are taking the county by storm, my friend! Once the snow disappears, I hope you take some bike rides up into October Mountain, right across the valley from your front door.

Really, there were some huge houses right by downtown but it looked somewhat normal looking outside of it... I guess you'd have no idea the prices just by looking at it...... For such a nice place, the road from 102 was HORRIBLE, though I think the majority of crappy sections was in Lee/South Lee than Tyringham itself...

And as far as storming the county, I'm volunteering with the AMC berkshire chapter to help out on the AT here, I think I may volunteer to be en environmental stewart on a section since they said their trail maintenance is filled and I still maintain my trail in the catskills..

Jay, I think I read where they're rebuilding the road from Lee this year.

Good news, Santarella is for sale; for a paltry 2.7 mil;

A classic house indeed. No doubt being pictured in the New England Michelin Green Guide for many years has not hurt the property's value any.

Too far to bike to work, oh well.

Just took a look at the map.. Hop Brook was definitely pretty nice.. I guess perhaps the Shaker campsite might of been part of the old Shaker village that was supposedly there. In addition to the privy and the 2 tent platforms there looked to be a huge rock wall built up there.. Nice spot!

Maybe I can just take up residence on the AT.. I'll have to buy a bigger tent though..
