I sent him an email several weeks ago offering to take him along the AT in PA (it is in direct line to go to NY). He sent me an email back, turning me down, saying he really wanted to stick to roads.

He's making tracks ...
Yeah, I heard he's not taking many trails. I find his story very interesting, though. I've been keeping an eye on his progress; I'd also like to meet him north of here, before he steps into Joisey.
