2 towers, Santas 8/20-22

Day one, arrive in late afternoon and climb Mt Adams, very nice, good trails, railings on tower leave much to be desired for those of us who dislike heights Great place to view high peaks from, 2 family groups were having lots of fun being there.
Day two, Santas following Moonrays route. Not as nice of day, but I was happy with the views and mudless dust, which was much different than the last time. Trails were in great condition, fast, dry and easy to travel . However, I did have to go back down a ways on Panther Brook to pump water, pretty dry. There is no other water on this route that I found. Met over 30 hikers along the way, one fellow 35er finishing her 46 on Santa Way to go Mary, see you and Bob this winter. Several people asked me why I was back on Couchie, why not? This is a wild and remote spot to be, one of my favorites. There were a couple of gaggles of kids on Santa, going and coming, all in good spirts , beaming with the engery of youth and being there, good to see. Hiked down the new old trail and out with an almost 46er, nice to have the company and conversation, on what could be a long and boring walk out. Good luck on your remaining 2. Let me know if no one can go with you. Started to sprinkle a few minutes after returning, but the rain held out until later. I'm sure the trail is no longer dry and dusty. This seemed to be the week to do these .
All in all a nice day for a walk, met some new friends, saw the sights I missed last time in the rain and fog, 30 some more to revisit to see if there are really views or not. Much easier than fighting with the nettles, briars and snakes at home.
Day 3, Heavy rain, stopped in Blue Mt Lake and climbed the Whiteface Fire Tower at the ADK Museum, does this count?

Sounds like a few good days away from home. Glad your trip went well.

Now are you ready to get back to the dangers of nettles, briars and snakes?

Nice that you got views this time Isn't it almost exactly a year since your finish with Jay and me on these peaks? Somehow I recall it being the end of August - though the weather was like it was yesterday and today...a hike to remember

I like a man who says Couchie is a cutie. I bet he knows his women as well as he does his mountains .

my thoughts as well. I have a large soft spot in my heart for the little runt.
not so easy when climbed up from cold river rather than down from panther ridge. Anyone who has a bit of an inkling for her should give her and the ears a try from newcomb on a nice fall day or spring.
I just celebrated my 29th with the true love of my life, still trying to figure her out, she didn't come with a topo map
