Smile Hamlin-Baxter-North Brother

A visit in Baxter State Park for three new summits for us. We stayed in a motel in Millinocket on thursday and friday.

On friday june 25 we did Hamlin and Baxter. Our plan was to hike those two on saterday but the weather was sunny for friday and cloudy with 40% chance of rain on saturday. We climbed by the Abol Tr, because Annie has vertigo and could not climb by the Knife Edge. The view from and near Hamlin was gorgeous. And on Baxter also, the view of the Knife Edge is fantastic. We had to go down the Abol Tr very slowly. Because Annie was scare.

On saturday we did North Brother, with no view and 2 hours of rain and half hour of strog rain. No view, very windy and fog on the summit.
We were happy to meet 5 hikers from the forum on our way up to the summit.

Two hike in Baxter park and three new mountains for us.
It is far from home, but it was a very nice trip.

That 50 days, 50 states 50 peaks van, was that Cave Dog?

Also, who did you meet? Joe Cedar was up there, along with the current president of the Catskill 3500 Club.

Yes I met Joe, Dave "procook131" and 3 others that I do not know their names.

Sounds like a fun trip, strange the places you meet fellow forum members, isn't it? Joe is headed to rangeley soon if not already, I forgot if he was going before or after BSP.

Enjoyed the pictures and looking forward to the Bigelows for you and Annie!

I think Joe went to Old Speck on his way to Baxter Park.
He was supposed to do Baxter-Hamlin on sunday and Sugarloaf-Spalding-Abraham-Redington-S.Crocker and Crocker on yesterday or today, depend of the weather.

Yup, Joe sent me a few emails last week asking about the Caribou six, as he called it. Now I remember him hitting Old Speck on the way up.

Your pictures from the Abol Slide now shows me what the trail looks like in non-winter as I've only climbed the slide in winter... I was breaking trail for the most part cause I was the fastest hiker there.
