Lincoln Pond Paddle - 5/2

After two days of painting, followed by two days of yard work it was time to get out and play a little this morning.

I was kind of tired this morning so a hike was out, but a paddle on Lincoln Pond was perfect for today. After breakfast and a shower Brian and I grabbed our paddles and kayaks and headed to the pond. We pulled into the parking area and saw Brian's brother Phillip's jeep there as they went very early this morning to get some fishing done.

Unloaded the kayaks and off we went. We paddled north from the parking area on the lower pond, first out towards the middle, but then slowly made our way to the shoreline to check out the wildlife. We paddled to an area that had a lot of old stumps and a hugh beaver lodge/hut. I was hoping to see the beaver and we were not disappointed. Brian spotted the beaver and even managed to get a good picture of him before he dove under the water never to be seen again. We did get a special treat of seeing a hugh turtle trying to climb over the stump he was sunning himself on in an attempt to get away from us. Going over must not have been fast enough for him and he all of a sudden jumped off the stump and into the water. Around another little bend in the lake to another stumpy area and another turtle sunning himself. To the channel and the second part of the lower pond checking out some of the campsites along the pond. We decided we would like to camp there for a weekend soon, so we saved that section of the pond for later exploration on our camping trip.

A nice paddle back along the center of the pond which was now wavy and fun, to an island for a lunch stop. Don't ask me what I did as I fell out of my kayak and into the water getting out. This brought a smile to Brian's face and a of his eyes. After a nice lunch we headed to the upper pond, which was windy and choppy so back over to the lower pond we headed and back to the parking area. Never did run into Phillip on the pond, but spotted them coming in shortly after we finished loading our boats.

A nice relaxing paddle, some nice wildlife sightings and a great day with my honey!!

Sounds great! We had considered getting out our Kayaks yesterday during the 80 degree weather, but decided to do some geocaching instead. My wife wants to go for a paddle on Mothers Day. Should be fun!
