Redcliff, Greysky, and Marcy
Since there is a lot to read about from this weekend, i'll keep it short. Felix (x) and I had decided on the grey sky marcy loop. Saw a few people in the way in, Snickers and Bushwacker on their way in to Colden and a couple of other groups.
As we hit lake arnold the inevitable question came up, "hey while we are all the way in here.........wanna do redfield and cliff too?". As the conditions were perfect I said.....Uhhhhhh, OK. All three herd paths were good, maybe a little wet in spots. Got down from Grey at 4pm. As we headed up Skylight we met Arm. We had the good fortune to finish his "W" on top with him. Nice job again!! Spent just a minute on top and then took our Quicky sleds and flew back down to four corners, 4:45, time for the crown jewel of the high peaks. Path up marcy was hard pack, we had to deal with some spin drift but nothing to bad. Hit the summit at 5:45 just in time to see a bright orange sun on the western horizon, it was breathless. The wind was doing good (50 mph or so) so we left. Back on the Quicky sleds for every little bit that we could on the way down. The stats 5 peaks, 13 hrs 5 min, 23 miles, and the surprising bit for me, 9160 ft of elevation gain. Brings me to 41 W and Felix to 39 W (all this season for him). Thanks to all of you who broke out the herd paths, long days like this don't happen without you. ![]() http://community.webshots.com/slideshow/576949482bFctoZ Last edited by Mike S; 03-07-2010 at 08:15 PM. |

Snickers said you were ahead of us. We were going to try and catch you but the "minor" change of plans put us a bit behind. Glad you enjoyed the perfect day!

the wonderful thing about Mike S is it never seems to take all that much prodding... an added bonus, besides sundown on Marcy, was being late enough to finally get a table at the brew pub nice to meet arm on skylight. have a nice photo of him placing that pea sized stone that he carried from the parking lot on the summit cairn. congrats on his huge finish! |

We changed our plans about 10 minutes after we saw you. It was too nice of a day to not spend 13 hours outside!!
We are gonna go in and try the Santanoni's on Saturday. Hopefully it is unbroken, wet, and muddy...some dreams will come true! The W finish should be on the 20th on Iroquois for me and Wrights for Felix Last edited by Mike S; 03-09-2010 at 07:50 PM. |
