I am a 46er
over half a mile of less mud

So, last weekend, 46er trail crew worked on the Bradley Pond trail. A few re-routes, adding drainage ditches to some mud wallows ends with about 0.6 or so miles of no mud.

If we keep up at this rate, that trail will not be considered one of the muddiest trails.

Note that the start of the herd path is not where it was. About 100 or so yards after one of the "Trail -->" signs... a short climb and a junction with a sigh that says "unmaintained path to Times Square (and has the same thing misspelled on the back).. Turn left at that junction and walk.

And.... from here... thanks to MuddyBottom (it wasn't... I looked), PA_Ridgerunner, and the lionel-simpsons lawyer.

Were you working on the trail south or north of Bradley Pond? I'm guessing south, since far more people hike from the south (and rightly so it'd be higher priority). But man, that mile of trail north of Bradley Pond is epic. One of the worst trails I've ever hiked...

south... We worked on the north end before Floyd, and will do it again, one of these years, but the south end work is much more appreciated..... Only weirdos come there from the North

Pretty much. And when we got there, we didn't even climb any of the Santanoni's. (Went up Henderson instead...)

Very nice. Thanks for all your efforts. Feels great to do trail work. I'm hoping to get some trail work done in the Thirteenth Lake area (Peaked Mt Pond) this weekend myself.

The re-route is very easy to follow. If you miss it you prob. shouldn't be allowed to drive or operate heavy machinery. From the junction with the "path to herald square" the trail to panther goes left and down, crosses the old trail (and it's mud) and hits a bever pond. YOu can see the cairn marking the path cross the pond. I went both left and right and working towards the left over the beaver damn is drier and easier (though be careful...joecedar slipped and cut his hand on some gnawed beavers stump) Across the beaver damn the path is very clear. It's marked with a cairn and you know...looks like a path.

We were there on Wednesday - thanks for all the work! Those muddy areas look pretty deep and the reroute was very easy to follow. It took us a little while to realize we needed to cross the beaver dam to get to the Panther trail on the other side - there didn't seem to be any other approach across the pond. Path is easy to follow though once you get across. Hope that dam is solid - I wouldn't want to wade across....

But will it still count if you don't have to wallow through the mud?

Thanks for the trail work. Hiked it in mid June- worst trail I've ever hiked! Ugly mudholes, bogs etc....ugh!
