Bushwhacking from Marshall to Iroquois or vice versa

Would there be any time savings bushwhacking either from Marshall (Cold Brook Pass? trail) to Iroquois or from Iroquois down to Cold Brook Pass vice up trail 71 to the col between Algonquin and Boundary and back down the same way? Having gone up trail 71 previously (and why I didn't get Iroquois that day is a GREAT question....), I don't have any strong desire to see it twice in the same day.

I probably would do it as a loop. I'd probably do Marshall from Flowed Lands first, then bushwack to Iroquois so that I was ascending the Shephard's Tooth rather than descending it, then take the trail back down to Lake Colden. I think that'd be the fastest way to do both Marshall and Iroquois.

There is apparently still a lot of blowdown in Cold Brook Pass, though. The trail through there hasn't been re-opened yet.

I would agree with DSetthar as far as shortest distance not too sure that you save a lot of time on the first attempt once you factor in slower hike time and navigation.

It seems like a lot of people elect to go to and from Marshall and Iroquois. Is there a beaten, unmaintained herd path at this point or is it still a true bushwack?

I believe that there is somewhat of a herd path from Marshall down into Cold Brook Pass, but from there up to Iroquois is much more of a true bushwhack.
