Top of the Angle Slide

Does anyone know an easy way to bushwack/follow a herd path/follow the Whales tail ski trail from the summit of Wright to the top of the Angle Slide? I did this back in February with a friend, and after looking at Carl Heilman's famous post-Irene pictures, I thought it would be easy to bushwack from the summit of Wright along the ridge to the slide, but that was not the case. While the beginning was easy going, we actually descended through a pretty hairy steep bit of thick pines that took about an hour for a half mile, but finally (and surprisingly) did come right out at the top of the angle slide.

We ran across the whales tail ski trail quite a few times while following the ridge down, however, that ski trail is not on the ADK High Peaks map and we continued to follow the ridge. Is there a herd path from this ski trail right over to the angle slide? It was a great trip, I would like to return again without the pain of the bushwack.

The easiest way I know to get to the top of the Angel Slide is to climb it. Just whack from Marcy Dam a little S of W to pick up the main drainage the slides feed into. It's only like a quarter mile or so. The brook bed was scoured by Irene and it is an absolutely gorgeous rock-hopping extravaganza. The brook leads directly to the new slide, so after ascending a good while, you have to go left and whack a very short distance to the bottom of the Angel. I posted a report with a little more detail:

Later, I whacked from the top of the Angel to that beautiful rock on the Wright W ridge (described in next link), so one could just reverse what I did, but it is still easier and more fun to climb the slide.
