Current Catskill Conditions
Anybody been out there the past couple days? We're planning on doing Hunter tomorrow from Notch Lake. If no one has been out, then I will dutifully respond to my own post tomorrow night!
...maybe with a picture or two... with my shiny new camera...

Snow and ice. I would say that the DP is prob almost icy enough for spikes. Over the past 3 days I've been on Thomas Cole, Slide, DT, Graham, and BLM. Slide and Doubletop were fully snow-coated, none of the others were. Carried spikes but didn't need them, although on Slide and on DT it was close.

Devil's Path Rt 214 to Prediger Rd yesterday - West side of Sugarloaf, Twin, and Indian Head had a fair amount of ice in certain places, but it was easy enough to go around the ice. No need for microspikes

Hunter had small bits of dusted snow and short sections of ice on the trail. No need for microspikes or any traction aids. By the afternoon, it was mostly water and mud.

We were on and around Mongaup Saturday. No snow or ice, only a few large piles of bear scat.
