That's a nice human interest piece, but I find the "every hike takes at least eight hours" line a bit suspect. Ever notice how articles tend to overstate or understate the difficulty of peak bagging?

What can we conclude from this?

I have been involved in this process several times, and the reporters rarely want you to review their articles. Maybe they have severe time pressures, but given the track record I've seen, they should take a few minutes to get some feedback...

They left out the part about it being uphill both ways.

I wonder if the "all of the hikes take at least 8 hours" includes drive time to and from NJ?

I remember hiking with Tim Watters about 15 years ago. He led a 3500 club group on a hike that included a bushwhack off of Thomas Cole. Congratulations to the Watters family.

Got to love the part in the article about a Bear's Nest. Can't say I've ever run across one. But it must have to be a big old nest to hold a family of Bears.

Hopefully it's not up in a tree like a birds nest.
