Well Jay, I have never seen those landmarks but I have seen plenty of cows up here in Canaday. The site is entitled Vanishing Roadside, which is fitting because gas up here is nosing in on the six dollar a gallon mark. You got that right. 6 greenback dollahs a US gallon. To think that people may have to resort to such primitive modes of transport such as walking and biking to get around boggles the mind.

Sorry for the drift. I'll go back to the Adirondacks now.

I'll fall into Neil's drift for just a moment and say that gas is close to $4 here. It makes me consider my pilgrimages very carefully. Now back to NH...

Well Neil, you must start visiting the catskills more often, although as a northerner myself (since I live in the Berkshires, I now go mostly south to the catskills and especially Rt 28) you probably wont ever really go by the cow or Skytop or Fabulous Furniture since it's mostly counterproductive to go to Kingston...

Oh yes, another funky landmark. I'd add the Storm King art park too, but that';s not exactly in the catskills but you can see that from the thruway. There is also a netflix movie of a guy that did the rock wall there too.

Never did stop to take a closer look but always admired his work.
I always enjoyed when Cadillac fins where involved in the sculptures.

Jay, Here in Queens N.Y. we have art work from sculptor Mark di Suvero too.
It's not as large as the Storm King Art Center but has very similar work.

Doesn't look like the catskills!

Only thing slightly landmarkish in the catskills is the Mattress Barn which I guess is in Shandaken on Rt 28...

I always think of ice cream! I dunno, I am the kind of cyclist that Moos at cows when I go by farms. In fact, one of the best places to Moo is at the intersection of Rt 23A and Rt 32 in Palenville at the traffic light. Cause there is a farm there on the eastern side so if I get stuck at a red light there I will moo for like the entire length of the traffic light. Just instinct. We were put on this earth to Moo at cows...
