Snowshoes this weekend?
I'm looking to do Dix from Route 73 on Saturday and am trying to decide what combination of snow/traction aids to bring along. Microspikes are pretty much guaranteed a berth in my pack, but I was wondering whether snowshoes or crampons would also be a good idea or even whether I should just bring the crampons and leave the 'spikes at home.

That is a good question. I'm thinking of heading there also. I did see this report:
The precipitation has been almost all snow above 2000 feet in the High Peaks since Sunday night! Reports have come in of almost a foot or more of new snow above 3500 feet with more in the higher summits forecast through Wednesday night. Please be prepared for winter conditions So I was thinking snowshoes. |

Sounds good. With temperatures over the past week, I had my suspicions. Plus, it'll be nice to get one more use out of the televators for the season.
