I am a 46er I am a Catskill 35er
Borden (Savoy) Mtn

Getting myself out of the apartment, I thought I'd wander up towards savoy state forest to check out this short firetower eastish of Greylock, called Borden Mtn. Guide book mentioned a 1/2 mile and like 280' of climbing on a 2500' fire tower which is pretty decent for the taconics..

Well, turns out the seriously short hike is very slightly longer because Adams rd is not paved so I just parked at the corner as far off the quiet road as possible. This adds like another 1/2 mile or so but on a very well used snowmobile path. Just follow the power line as it heads right up Tower road past the open gate to the firetower...

The firetower, much like Lenox mt is closed and being used as a cell tower or some sort with a microwave tower not far away. Quite a disappointment cause unlike Lenox mtn, there aren't much views if you don't climb the firetower and the hike seemed like a complete waste of time, other than getting out of the apartment.. in fact, the best view was just about 50ft from my car as Adams Road seems to line up exactly with greylock and I could see the war memorial above the farmhouse on the corner of Center/Adams. Easy hike though.

I was going to head up to Parker Brook and Turner brook falls but I'm sure the roads leading to it are also not plowed and probably snowmobile trails. There is a map of the trail system at the summit. Does anybody know where I can find a map of Savoy SF trails? I'm told there are a lot of ATV messed up double track there and woods roads..
