Seward for Grace

Had the honor to hike up Calkins Brook with Nuked Rocket and the Mrs. Day started out well we will say overcast. The rain did not come until later in the morning when I made the proclamation that the sun would be out by the time we reached our summits, ten minutes later it was pouring NR and the wife had Donaldson and this was the third attempt for them. I will let them tell their story. My observation and congratulations goes out to the Mrs. who showed Grace like determination to complete this trip.
I made the up and down over to Seward where I was alone on the summit. It was nice to take the time to think about all the people I had met on and of the trail and the passion that links us all.
What rain ? this was truly a magnificent day.

Yea baby - it was a terrific day, rain included.
Seward all to yourself in the rain - What could be better?

Thanks Jack....

From a Grace Letter

"The Forty Sixers of Troy had their own special song which was sung when they were together. The last verse especially seems appropriate for you two:"

Where old Seward spreads his shadow
O'er Ouluska's den,
With its dark and hidden caverns
Far from haunts of men.
There let me tramp 'til early nightfall
Bids me stop and rest;
There with pals and God and Nature,
Will my soul be blest.

-Rev. Ernest R. Ryder (1937)
