We found 5" of unbroken snow at the trailhead so we used snowshoes from the start because we could. Turned into 12 - 14" by the time we reached the summit. Slow going, that 2800' change in elevation. Funny thing though, we followed a deer track almost from the beginning until after reconnoiter rock. The deer never missed a blue marker! Weather was overcast and snowing most of the time. The sun finally came out and the sky totally cleared while we were on the top. Beautiful vistas at both viewpoints after that.

Apparently more snow in the south than the north, but it was snow shoeable.

Same description would work for Hunter from Spruceton. Small snowshoes were good for Rusk, but for Hunter, I should have had large or huge snowshoes, even though the snow is dense.
      I might be kidding...

This was the col after reconnoiter rock where there had been some drifting.
