There was 2 feet of snow. Conditions were not easy. I used huge snowshoes. I caught up to one guy. Snow was softening up in a very large way. It even seemed like it was getting softer up on the top in the shade, but yet it was 27 degrees in the parking area when I left. There was another person that ended up doing the loop before I got out. I think that person was quite light. There were millipede tracks that failed to reach the first road.

By the way, Burnham Hollow trailhead looks like its closed for the winter. There is a 6 foot snow bank blocking it right now.

Boots or trail runners with gaiters recommended? Sounds like the snow is considerably deeper than my boots and like I'll be on snowshoes the whole time

You're amongst the snow when it warms up, so if its warm, due to temperature or sunshine, I would suggest boots, gaiters and snowshoes.
