  • St. Regis mountain- 360 views

With the iffy weather this past weekend took the opportunity to do a quick jaunt up st. Regis on Monday. As a Canadian it's so convenient to reach as compared to the high peaks region. Trailhead was mostly full when we took off around 10:45. The weather was perfect on the mellow forest walk that took us about 3/4 of the way up. The last 1/4 will make you earn your views though. A bit of huffing and puffing later we were at the summit. Climbed the firetower against crazy high winds. What a rush! 360 views and barely a cloud in the sky. The lakes around and high peaks in the background were a real treat. Took a long time on the summit taking pictures and enjoying a tasty lunch of pb&j and some fruit. Chatted with some nice people with 2 mini terriers - it was impressive to see those little guys hike! We finally headed down and were back at the car just after 3, making for a quick trip home in time for dinner. What a glorious day while everyone back home was totally drenched with downpours

St Regis is where my interest in hiking in the mountains got started. My brother-in-law owns a vacation property on Lake Clear and St Regis can be seen from the house. After a few trips up that mountain the "sickness" took hold.
