View Full Version : Best full moon slide?
Which slide would you choose for a full moon slide climb? I was thinking of one with a short bushwhack approach that would face the moon an hour or after moonrise. Colden SE comes quickly to mind.

When's the next full moon ?
SE slide seems like a great choice.
beckhorn has the right exposure but would need to climb to base earlier on in the eve.

dark slide of the moon is the 100% dark moss covered slide that runs alongside the beckhorn slide and runs up to the coll in the first bump down the ridge towards Hough :D or so I named it when Neil and I wandered out on it.

Either Whiteface Ski or Colden SE. The white rock on Colden SE might reflect light better.

Beckhorn has a higher coolness factor. Could do a moonwhack to the top of the Ring and do the moon walk down it.

If you are looking for idiots to join you, let me know...;)
October 4th is a Sunday. May as well go on Saturday. Earlier moon rise, and due to slighter lessor lunar surface illumination we can all save weight and leave our moonglasses and moon screen at home. Need to watch for deadly ice however.

The lighter weight option sounds best :D
How about nice afternoon stroll up pinkey = about 3 hours
BW to last open rock on outlier = about 1/2 hour fairly easy
Then same route to base of Beckhorn = about 2 hours ?
Say a total of 6-7 hours so start out about noon
Hike back down Dix trail and hit one of the big slides if the moon is still good.
Could start out about 10 AM and take a long break on outlier and down in the valley.

Sounds like a better plan. I'll check the date with Sylvie.
(Not sure about the sagacity of going down onto the final upper section of the Index Slide in the dark.)
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we see
No I wont be afraid
No I wont be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
