On v f t t , when you email someone, it uses an intermediate of some kind. Your email address is sent to the recipient, but the recipient does not expose their email to the sender, unless they respond.

Here, the recipient DOES expose their email address to the sender before a message is even composed or sent.

Some people probably prefer to keep their email as private as possible. Is there anyway to make this a user choice or is it an admin choice for everyone ?

That's a good point. I just went through my control panel options and looked all through the Mod section and can't see anyway of changing this. Under the current configuration the only way to protect your e-mail address privacy is to uncheck the receive e-mail box in "edit options" in the Control panel.
Perhaps Mavs can change it.

I'm pretty sure the only options with vbulletin is the "either/or". You can check in the control panel whether you want others to be able to view your email address or not. or whether you want others to be able to send email to you.

The best solution is to get a webmail account that you use only for email from forums or other places that is separate from a private email that is given only to people who you want to have it. That way there is no concern with privacy or anononimity.

Yeah, have you climbed Space Mountain yet?

Even better.............. Right now, I'm at the Tampa Airport patiently waiting for my delayed flight at Jose Cuervo's Tequileria kiosk.

p.s. Gotta run, I only got another hour and a half. :drink:

LOL!

It's like I say with Views and Brews: It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it!
