Vt 3kr off Victory rd past E Burke. At the height of land a non discript woods rd on the left goes in,I drove by it at first.Originally an un-trailed pk now a nice loop can be done.On the sub pk 3020 is a beautiful camp perched on a cliff,I had to check it out since I could not believe it was there. The owner was there and let me hang out on the deck(views of Franc Rge,Umpire and Burke) Solar panels fridge, stove, wood stove,Grille, you name it!Turns out he had the whole thing Helicoptered in,there's no other way you could do it!Also a tower out back with views from Lyon mt to Old Speck. For you Quebecer's the outhouse has a glass door looking towards the border of Canada. I took a dump at the true summit so I didn't check that out.Nice traditional rusted top glass jar to sign into,Marchowes last one there.Snowshoes were needed up top and of course, shorts

If any interest to rent and use as a base to do Umpire,Burke or Cold Hollow I would be interested.

Damn. That place looks sweet! Makes the Huts look crowded and overpriced (oh wait, everything makes Huts look that way). I'd definitely be interested in spending some time up there...baggin' some 3k'ers would be the proverbial icing.

I was wondering if the guy might discount the price if one would hump up some supplies for the cabin. Also at the end of the little log rd there was a spot where a camp fire was.I'm guessin it's ok to camp there for a nite.

I have to check and see if they get AM signals up there. If they do, I probably will opt out...afraid my wilderness experience could be ruined. ;)

I'm also worried that I won't be able to find anything to eat on my way up there. I'll probably start some "breakfast/lunch/dinner recommendations" threads to ensure there'll be sufficient food options in the area.
And I used to think that trip planning just entailed map & compass work. Guess I got a lot to learn.

Yeah, you might want to opt out.The AM radio I have built into my snowshoes was picking up way too many North country religious channels up top.
