First of all, I need to know : Is there a summit sign on Esther's summit ? I wasn't sure I reached it, I just assumed I did because I triped on a pile of tree branches, clearly made to block the going down path.
That was an hour after I left the jct with Wilmington trail, walking in a paradisiac unopened herd path. 5-7 inches of snow everywhere, finding the trail was the most winter fun I had so far. Snow from the trees was falling on me, and I felt like a big snowman going for his 27th ADK 46 !
I saw many animals tracks, but no friends to share this experience with. I might seem weirdo here, but I must say that I prefer doing that alone. I tend to be lazy when hiking with other people, letting them find the path and just follow.
I was supposed to bag Whiteface too, but I had a sick friend waiting for me in the car at the reservoir parking lot. I felt so guilty that I went hiking anyway, I ran down the trail and made it in 6hours, 30 minutes for my total hike.

There is no sign. I uncovered the plaque in the rock on 11/19 but I'm sure it was covered again with recent snows.

There should of been a disc, high up in the tree, to mark the summit.

Here is a preview :
There is a commemorative plaque cemented in the rock. Maybe it was under the snow.
I dont like that period of the season. Not much snow for snowshoes, not much snow to cover rocks, a little ice but not enough for the big crampons!!!
(Sorry for the first post in french)
Je n'aime pas cette période de la saison. Pas beaucoup de neige pour des raquettes, pas beaucoup de neige pour couvrir des roches, une peu de glace mais pas assez pour les grands crampons!!!
I know exactly what you mean.
