Had time for a quick trip this late morning, waited until 11:30 to start, thinking this would give the turkey hunters time to themselves. Both camps up Saeger have hunters from the looks and sounds in the area.
Very foggy, almost a drizzle. The trail to the FlatIron Bridge is in excellent shape, and from there up the woods are still open and mostly leafless, with buds on the way. Stopped several times for a leek or 2. I think they are also refered to as ramps. Sweeter at higher elevations. At one spot I sat down and feasted, washing them in a small spring, while the dog chowed down on the tender shoots of Bear Grass( bears and dogs seem to love whatever it is really called). I was here treated to the first spring wablers, although I couldn't see them well enough for an ID. Missed the cannister by 100' in the fog and not using a compass, close enough. Started to rain so I just headed down, missing my ridge by 20 or 30 degrees, ending up who cares where, to the stream. Water runs downhill, except for one area along the Drybrook where it runs uphill for a few feet so I just followed the stream to the car.
The sun then came out and so did the bugs.

I knew that was coming. :D

I've often heard them referred to as ramps. I've actually seen them on restaurant menus as such.
