Last week I took a trip down to the Rider Hollow area. This was the first time I noticed all the signs saying 'Save the Mountain.' Here is their website. (http://www.savethemountain.net)Driving down Rt. 49A from Rt. 28, nearly every house or driveway sported a sign.
Also, when I passed the old Highmount ski area, there was a sign proclaiming that this was the future site of Highmount Resort and Spa. The sign looked very glitzy and out of place near the old Highmount buildings.
The locals are organizing and they're doing a good job. It's a good website with lots of information. I can just imagine how those home owners on that winding, plummeting mountain road feel - like many of us would feel - that they are about to be invaded.
