Deer in Newcomb or around that area

Okay I know this sounds funny and I should have taken photos....on the way home after doing MacNaughton...

It seems like everytime I come through this area there are always a couple of deer in the middle of the road like almost faithfully (and yes I know one runs into deer all the time) but this time something caught my eye and I stopped. They both had collars on and something on both ears? What is this all about and no I didn't hit my head.

I have no idea about the particular animals you saw, but DEC and other agencies sometimes collar and tag animals to study their movements. Did you get a good look at the collars? I'd say give the local DEC office a shout and report your sighting. If those deer were in fact specimens that they are studying, they'd probably appreciate the report.

They were definitely deer, the collars were orange and reflective and light tan I think tags on both ears....yes might do that but was curious if anyone else had witnessed this, lol.

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixon went missing for several hours that night. Could have been them.:rolleyes:


In December when we were head to Elk Lake we saw deer on the street and Santa so I assumed he rounded them up that night...maybe they got away.:D
