Gosh thats unfortunate. I was excited after being on Table and Peekamoose in snowshoe snow recently. Isn't there more snow predicted for the weekend possibly?

Needless to say, I don't think I'll be taking the Seager / (not so) Dry Brook approach this week !

You could cross the bridge at the Flatiron Brook and then whack up on the far side of (not so) Dry Brook til you hit the trail... :)

I had this funny feeling that last weekend might have been the last really good one for snowshoes and skis. Hope I'm wrong. Then again, I've had a few fun outings on both this winter, so if spring shows up early, I'm okay with that too. Time for road biking.

I couldn't agree more

I was cleaning up the flash flood in my basement this morning, looking at my bicycle and thinking, "I'm ready for spring!" Just please make the rain stop

I haven't checked the Wallkill lately, but I'll be she's already well over her banks. At least this rain should firm up the snow a bit when it refreezes.

I'm bringing my bike in from storage this weekend and getting it ready for spring. There is plenty of snow to melt above 3000'. Here is picture from Slide last Sunday. Some spots had 5' of snow up there.

No, time for whitewater kayaking. With daylight savings upon us, you locals should be running the Esopus after work.

If the Esopus looked anything like the East Branch of the Delaware tonite, it was not the place to be, at least not for me and my little pungo.

WNBC-NY was broadcasting from the corner of Springtown Road and Rt 299 in New Paltz yesterday, the usually flooding on the Wallkill closed off the road access to the Mohonk Mtn house from Rt 299 and the waters were across the road, they interviewed some residents (I didn't see matt) and the NP chief of Police....

JayI was watching them broadcasting from inside the Gilded Otter! We were watching the TV show inside and looking outside to see the reporter surveying the very flooded farm land!

Yup, Springtown Road always gets hammered.

I have a friend who lives on it. After the Tax Day storm last year, her driveway was six feet under water.

You guys are getting rain? We're getting too much snow up here. Here's what my place looks like

They were taken before the 14 inches we had on Wed... And they're talking about close to another 2 feet this weekend.... We'll have our flooding when all this stuff melts.

I passed by there on the way home from work, but no one asked for an interview. I was still pretty sick yesterday, and basically just went home, ate something and got in bed. After taking today off, I finally feel a lot better. The Wallkill flooding is pretty routine-they built the road on a flood plain! It's good for the adjacent cornfields though.

As for running the Esopus, if we get really serious flooding (ala April 2005) you'll have access right at the Kingston Park and Ride! Just get off the Thruway, and put in. If the Wallkill reaches that level again, I'll be able to put in from my landlord's front yard!

More on the way tonight and tomorrow. If the forecast is correct we could see more flooding in the Hudson Valley.

The Hudson River was tumultuous and out of its banks in the usual places on Wednesday, but by Thursday was its usual placid self.
Got out for a quick paddle from the Hudson boat launch. The river was full of debris and I scooped out floatables as I went along. Returned to shore with a bag full of goodies, including one size 13 Goretex boot, like new, and one Cujo-sized dog food bowl.

I have to drive to Stone Ridge tomorrow morning for a civil service exam, so I'll have to cross both the Wallkill and Rondout. Fortunately just on the RT 32 bridges, and usually the flooding has to reach pretty epic proportions before the creeks flood the road in those places. Once I get into Rosendale on 213, I can get up onto higher ground pretty quickly using Binnewater Rd. Should be an interesting day tomorrow. I'll watch the USGS Waterdata site tonight and early tomorrow AM before I leave.

Okay this is a little scary. I just checked out this (http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ny/nwis/rt) and this (http://www.weather.com/outlook/homeandgarden/home/local/12561?from=recentsearch) and I'm thinking I may need one of these (http://arkinspection.com/Noah's%20Ark%204.gif) to get around tomorrow. We'll see.

I have a lake forming in my front yard, some of which will undoubtedly end up in my basement....AGAIN!

The Esopus was still roaring pretty good today. Tomorrow will not be a good day for stream crossings.

Well I had a nice little travel window this morning and got to Stone Ridge and back with no problems. The Wallkill and Rondout are both still high, but not floos stage yet, although they likely will be soon. Right now it's coming down in torrents, w/ some thunder and lightning for counterpoint. The snow is making a quick exit as well.

Another inch or so of rain, followed by colder(30), high winds, and flurries, no flooding but high water. Agin, a mixed bag for conditions.

Looks like the Catskills will be right around the snow-rain transition line for whatever precip comes through today.

I've heard anywhere from 2-3 inchs in the catskills to 12inches... saturday night is supposed to be cold, bring the winter gear if camping out.

I'm going kayaking this weekend and to a paddling show on saturday so looks like kayak season has started. :) It's also about time to dust my road bike off...

Fog ,rain ,snow, the 3-4" snow we got/are getting is so heavy you can shovel a 5 gallon bucket full and get 10 gallons of water.
Seems to be less towards the central cats.
32.5 degrees@1860'.
