Tim,
I niticed in the new issue of Peeks, that the youngest 46er this year, Ashley, has the same last name as you do. Not only that, but she seems to come from same town that you do. Isn't that an amazing co-oncidence?

Tim, Give Ashley my congratulations. Whether she's the youngest or not doesn't matter but I'm sure it's fun for her to have that special role this year.
Now I do believe that under article 6 section 10 Ashley is entitled to pick what dinner will be on the anniversary of her attainment of this accolade.

Yup, at the tender age of 11, MarcyGirl was in fact the the youngest 46er last year. They mentioned it at the induction this Spring and I will tell you, she was aglow for the rest of the week.
And.................... Despite the ongoing -Legal Issues- (http://www.adkforum.com/showpost.php?p=21571&postcount=4), she also sports the lowest number in the house. Good for her :)
Our Peeks have not yet arrived but was are patiently waiting. :(

Tim I suspect that you set it up so the numbers would come out the way they did. But it is a nice story.

Too funny Tim. Darned, I missed it back in February.
I know I already congratulated Ashley, Nick, Katie, and Tim at the 46er dinner, but here's another special one for Ashley for being the youngest for the year -- way to go!

After being squeezed into that back hallway to be lined up alphabetically during the 46r dinner in May, I guess Tony was entertaining the crowd with trivia about the Class of 2004. Tom Jr. told me that Tony had mentioned that Ash was the youngest 46r this year. Did she actually get to hear that?
I can still recall the faces on both Ash and Nick as they made that final waltz to the top of Whiteface last fall. THAT is what it's aLL about!

Just read my Peaks mag and noticed the special mention for Ashley. Again, congrats to 46r #5459 and those other hikers from Henrietta!
OK, A special "Hi" to Nick, ADKatie, and Timmie, too!
Marcygirl. I would think that being the youngest 46er is quite an honor. Now you have to watch the forums very carefully in case someone younger than you gets close to finishing so you can go and sabotage their hikes. Over the next few years I would keep tabs on Percious' son Colden. I think his Dad has 46 big plans for him.
All kidding aside, congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS Ashley! You even got the lower number of your whole family to boot. So two special honors to you!
I know Tim :blah: :blah: :blah:
Just got my peaks tonight and as I was reading through it, I saw the youngest comment and started thinking Dubois, Dubois, Dubois, where have I seen that, then I thought double zeros and then Mavs (Yes, I am backwards sometimes.
Anyways, congratulations on your being the 2004 youngest Ashley, something you can always talk about (or puton your resume in the years to come :) )

I hate to rain on your parade, but Beth Sikes is about to dethrone you.
Anyway, congratulations on a job well done. I still have 31 remaining and I'm 36.

Oui.
I told Tom Rankin I'm interested in that March cabin long weekend. Also, Harry K invited me to his place and I'm hoping to spend all or some of 12/26-1/2 working the list. Sadly, I haven't heard a peep out of him since he left in a huff.

She is the youngest, for the finishers, of the Adirondack Forty Sixers "Class of 2004." Every year the youngest of finishes, for that particular year, gets the honor. This year it happens to be Ashley Dubois. Congrats Ashley, again!
The youngest overall, of the Forty Sixers was around five years old.

5, wow!
Is that information is public archives somewhere? I'm curious who this person is, when it happened, how long it took, if a family member finished prior to or on the same day as (s)he did, etc.
Beth was 8 when she finished the 100 highest at the same time as her brother and mother 2 years ago. Maybe she has a shot at the 115 record.

The 46ers do not really want to 'advertise' the youngest. There are fears, that some families will push very young children to try to beat the record. Some of this may border on child abuse... having 4 year olds doing winter climbs of remote peaks, etc.

Ashley got to hike Giant and RPR with the Sikes this summer. She told me privately later that she felt that neither Beth or Adam were as strong a hiker as she was, but they were pretty good all the same. :bang:
Just kidding............. Big surprise here, they got along famously and really enjoyed each others company, both on and off the trail. By the way, the oldest/youngest thing is not really an official thing, its just something they mention and make you feel good. Thats all. Ash at 11 was it for 2004. Beth could be for 2005, provided no one younger finishes this year. I'm told it's usually in the 10-11 range each year anyway. As for the "all time" record, Ash and Beth are both literally old geezers compared to the 5 y/o's twins that hold the record.
Either way, it's a wonderful accomplishment at 10-11-14-35-50 whatever.......

It's really not "breaking" a record that counts, it's the achievement of it all, that actually counts!
It is amazing what "little" Beth has achieved at such an early age. She should be proud of herself. As all the children who achieve the goal should be.
