Hey everyone remember me? I have been gone for almost a month and I have enjoyed most of the morning catching up on the threads. I have only made one trip to the Adirondacks this year and that was Sawteeth back in June. In the last month there has been a lot going on in my personal life that I dont need to bore all of you with :blah: so all I want to say is keep the good trip reports coming so I can at least feel like I was there taking the hike with you. Hopefully next summer I can resume my 46er quest with only 16 left to climb :)
Take care and happy trails!

That's one of the reason this board is here my friend. I dont' get away near enough myself and reading others acounts helps.
I hope things start looking up for you.

I'm another who sometimes lives vicariously through the trip reports here. Why can't we all just get paid to hike???
Better luck next summer, Adam!

Hey everyone remember me? I have been gone for almost a month and I have enjoyed most of the morning catching up on the threads.
That's why I haven't seen you in a while. I'm not that much ahead of you. I only had 3 days of recreational hiking this summer. All the rest were work.
Why can't we all just get paid to hike???
It would be nice if I got paid for the more than 2 weeks of work I've done down there.
You can get paid, if you want to. You just have to pay the price. A friend of mine gets paid to hike. Here are his words:
"Well, I became a writer so I could do long trips! Partly, anyway. After my first long walk in 1978, taken as an unpaid break while working in an outdoor store, I decided I wanted to do more long walks and needed a way to pay for them. I wrote a bit anyway and started writing more, taking photos, leading trips, testing gear and anything else that made a bit of money. My aim was to spend as much time as possible in the wilds rather than to make money."

Nice gig!
Hey, anyone want to buy a trip report or a few photographs of Marcy at dawn?
