I've taken two weeks off from work and the plan is to hike as much as possible. If you like to rock scramble and get your hike on...Breakneck is a good place to start. It's a 9 mile hike with elevation gain of 1400 feet. We started our hike at 9:00am and the thick fog covering blocked the view. But as we gained elevation and the sun started to burn off the fog the views were incredible. We were able to see storm king mountain, pollepel island, west point....The plan was to hike to the south beacon mtn. fire tower, but my partner didn't want to go all the way. ( I think the rock scramble kicked his butt). However, it still was a great day and next time I'll take the husband (Alex) with me.

Today, Alex and I went to Vernooy Falls. This is a great place to go when your short on time. The trail was very nice and it's a little over 3 miles with some incline. The Falls was beautiful and the campsite was inviting. We plan to camp there next week.

Good job Pokee. Keep those boots moving.

I haven't been to either one of these hikes. Sounds like a nice place to take Cocomouse. You will have to be the trip leader.

Whats next????

Breakneck ridge is great, just be careful of the ascent when it's wet or icy.. Not a place to get familiar with rocky scrambles... Another good short hike is Storm King which is across the river from Breakneck ridge, it'll give you a great overview of the ascent on Breakneck Ridge...

Camping at Vernooy Falls is nice, a few weeks ago, the raspberries were really in bloom too which is nice when camping out...
