From where would one snap a quality pic of little Cliffy's cliffs?
Rist Mt maybe? Or climb a tree on Redfield?

Sadly :( , It's not available to the public. It's along the road in to the private East River Club Hunt Club. I was fortunate to have been a guest of a member. It's a nice shot. As an aside, You get an okay view of them from Cheney Cobble and a few peeks at them as you come down off Cheney's cone towards the NR col. You cannot see Cliff at all from North River's summit or Rist either (NR would block it).

I've also seen an equally nice vantage in a clearing about a mile past the "legal" turn off from the logging road on the way to Allen. It's private property too and I NEVER would have been there, but my guide for that trip was "not the brightest bulb in the box" so we did a little extra walking that day. As a consolation, the view was pretty sweet. You shoulda been there :whip: ;)

You get a pretty good close-up view as you are walking to the slide. For that matter, there is a half decent view while ON the slide, but you're probably too close for picture taking.

Ditto on Tim's comment about the view from the large boulder at the top of the hill. Though as I recall the events of the day, there was alot of blah, blah, blah goin' on that day, so it would be easy to miss a turn. Besides, that's what made the trip so memorable! That was quite a view from that boulder, albeit, illegal.

It used to be quite easy. Take the old yellow trail, pst the cutoff for the herd path, past the hight of land, good view of the cliffs on the right, then a bit past the cliffs, the slide or a brook become visible. Slide was short and steep, finishing yards from the canister. Far from spectular... Better than Emmons. Interesting views of cliffs of cliff while going up, but nothing spactular that I remmeber.

But that was before Floyd.

Thr old yellow trail got hit REAL bad.

Maybe not as steep as my memories have it, because that was one of the first slides I climbed. It was the steepest I ever did at the time. Did it in hiking boots.
