I headed out from the Loj at 9:30am accompanied by Sudsboy (Jay), Alison, and Alicia. It drizzled on and off all the way to the start of the path. I was surprised to find an official sign that pointed to the Tabletop path. Approx. 4 miles from the Loj, there is a sign pointing to the right to go to Marcy. At this point, there is a large cairn straight ahead - behind the cairn, you will find the sign to Tabletop. The path up to Tabletop is straight forward - we didn't find any herd paths along the way that went nowhere. Well...as soon as we started our climb, the drizzle stopped and the rain started. The path is quite eroded and trekking poles would have helpful going up and down. We reached the summit at 12:30...took pictures, had lunch, and headed back down. I have to say, now that I don't feel the pressure (that I put on myself) to complete the 46, I found Tabletop to be quite enjoyable :) despite the rain, mud, and lack of views. We split from Sudsboy and Alison since they wanted to get Phelps while they were here and Alicia (being a nonhiker) wanted to go back to the Loj. We took our time climbing down the muddy rocks and roots and avoided having any mishaps. We arrived at the Loj around 3:30pm.

Nice TR adventurous, on a day like sunday you had an advantage of being in the trees, out of the wind! I have some fond memories from tabletop, it cost me a trip to the ER  , i had one of those branches from a fir tree poke me in the ear and rupture my ear drum on our way down. That was weird, what were the chances? But still an experience and enjoyed the day!

Hey Kim! So is Sudsboy going to join and explain to everyone how he got his name? :D
It was nice to finally meet you and hang out and have some beers at the pub. Maybe when you get back from Europe we can do Macnaughton

I'll get him to sign up. The story won't be the same in writing as it is hearing him tell it (especially with all the embellishing he does).
I'll be back in October and don't have anything planned yet. I'll give you a shout when I know for sure.

Glad that you enjoyed TT Mt. I really like it up there, go back for the sometime on a nice winter day when you can see more mts and less trees.

Did the self labelled "Winter Wuss" just suggest a return in winter?
