Just a curious question.
"The canisters of the 46", MacNaughton is on there. My thought is since it is asked on 46-r questionire if you have climbed MacNaughton it is on the poster, I may be wrong. Or because it would look nice on the poster.
Any history as to why it was added since it is not one of the 46?
I would guess you would know Pete since your name is under the photo.

Great poster for the office.

MacNaughton was measured as 4000 feet in the USGS survey of the 1950s, but was originally measured just under 4000 feet in earlier surveys, on which the original 46 list was based. A canister was added although it was never required to be climbed to be a 46er. Grace often said "it should be climbed," although never officially required. It is a nice picture and I have -one- (http://www.adk-albany.org/macsummit.html) very similar to Pete's. I'm glad I was able to climb it when the canister was still there.

Thanks,

I was up there recently and had the pleasure of reading the mis-pelled sign, no canister though.

Cool poster.

Grace often referred to MacNaughton, "As the Bonus Peak," the aftermath of finishing the Forty Six.

I have only climbed this peak three times and always from Piche Lumber Camps in Tahawus. I however have never done it in Winter. Once I tried but it became an "aborted" trip.

Why it was on the poster? Simple. It is a picture of all the canisters which were maintained by the 46ers.

This is the picture you're talking about, right?
