Fireworks in the catskills [Archive]

Anybody know of any fireworks in the Catskills this weekend (July 7th/8th)???

I'm thinking about a night hike to Overlook or something like that and see if we can catch fireworks somewhere in the hudson valley, like Kingston or the town of Catskill...

Kingston had their large display last night. Saugerties fireworks are on the 4th. Those two would be the best to view from Overlook.

JayI would think that from there, you could see quite a few, bring binoculars! :D

The good people of Windham are putting on a giant display either the 4th or the 7th. Margretville on the 7th. Kelly Cornor all week.

I was on Overlook on the night of the first, but I got pushed off by rain clouds that moved in. In retrospect, I should have stayed...it turned out to be a beautiful night.

I might come up again on the fourth for the Saugerties fireworks, if I have enough gas in my car. But I'll be coming the back way from Prediger Road probably...that trail from Mead's Mountain Road is just awful.

Wednesday, July 4: Saugerties (always start late, usually after 10 pm), Catskill, and Cairo.

Saturday, July 7: Durham

I have not heard of any plans for the Friar Tuck hotel/resort. They have had fireworks in prior years.

Friday, July 13: Kingston Shopping Plaza (Children's Day carnival)

Overlook, Codfish Point, and Huckleberry Point should be viewing good for Saugerties.

Viewpoints from Boulder Rock to North Point should be good for Catskill. Perhaps Stoppel Point to Blackhead also, although Cairo Roundtop may in the way from the viewpoints either side of Blackhead.

Windham High Peak would be good for Cairo and Durham. The viewpoints surrounding Blackhead should also be good for Cairo.
