I got a 10:30 start from the Bisquick Brook PA, bush wacking directly up the line from the register to the ridge and hitting the trail there. A couple of inches of wet snow on the trail, the stream crossings took a little imagination ,the snow getting wetter and deeper as I climbed. At 3200' the sun hit the ice covered trees and I was treated to a shower of ice cubes from there to about 3300' on my decent of Fir sometime later. I wished for my old forestry hard hat, with its wide brims. I stopped long enough at BI for my lunch to get knocked from my hands by an ice cube ( the dog was enjoying this) and I made a bee line for Harry's Bear Wallow, a small clearing on the ridge where I could eat with out being pelted with ice. There was less ice from there to Fir, but enough to make you cringe with every crack snapple pop. There will be snow along the ridge to the col until mid-may;great frozen drifts in all the low spots. The southern slope of Fir was melted and dry, I looked for leeks, but its still a little early. I stopped at the lean-to on the way out and almost fell asleep in the warm sun shine and peacefulness of the spot.
Barebooted the entire trip. Left a message for MM at Fir.

Jim ...I too was watching out for melting ice coming down Kaaterskill on Monday, I kept my hat off because I was sweating and then a shower of ice would come down...kept the hat on for safety...some of those ice cubes were pretty big....sounds like a nice day...I had to work because I was off for about 10 days....chocolate didn't work as much as I thought it would...Mrs. Coldfeet is giving me the cold shoulder...

Did a 180 turn...bought hot spicy empanda's (spanish type of burrito)...Mrs. coldfeet loves those....ummmm..they are still sitting on the counter...
Told her about Tom and Laurie...stupid me mentions that they are both divorced...Mrs. Coldfeet mentions something about deciding again about marriage partner after 10 years.....I went to the basement to do more laundry....chill going through the house....
chapter 3 tomorrow....
