mt haystack and snow vermont 3-24-07

great daily double hike with chickety. up and down snow from the base lodge. register only had about 7 sign-ins since 1998 i'm guessing people get to the "summit restaurant" and figure they've made it. the true summit is around 200 yards past on a wooded high point.
haystack from the south,up the aptly named haystack mtn trail. nice trail,beautiful woods nice summit. snow was soft in the early afternoon.

no. all the workers seemed very friendly.
i've been told in the past that if you ask they have to say no due to liability issues,but if you just set out it's no big deal cause they can pretend they never saw you. haystack is a great hike and peak! even the true summit of snow was nice. back to southern vermont next weekend.:smash:

How's the snow cover down Southern Vt. way. Is it still top to bottom coverage?
