Sorry to get this in late, but my daughter finished up on Friday and Balsam Cap with a lot of help from some great hikers. We started from Moonhaw around 9:22. Mudhook, Jay H, and Ajtiv broke trail the whole way in 2-3 feet of sugar type snow. As everyone who was out on the fresh snowfall knows it wasn't easy this weekend. We made our way first to Friday, stepping, sinking, sliding back on almost every step. After signing in on her 34th, we butt-slid, face planted (I know I did anyway), and made our way down to the col and on to Balsam Cap. Zig-Zaged through some thick stuff a bit, and then on up to the cannister. After signing in for #35 Al (Ajtiv) surprised us with the bottle of NA Champagne for my young daughter's celebration! As Al kept saying all day "we're half way there." It was time to head back... Oh, almost forgot, the views... were incredible. I've been on this winter trek a bunch of times before but I guess I never had a clear day, always snowing. Made it to the cars around 5:30. A long day but a great one. Thanks guys for making our trip and Nicole's finish so special! I'll try to post pics tomorrow.

A new fire tower? I saw something while descending from Friday the weekend before last. I couldn't tell what it was...thought it might be an oddly placed transmission tower or something.

I am pretty sure that it is a cell tower on South Mtn. that has not been activated yet.I can see it from my house.

Hiking with Nicole is always a pleasure, she has your sense of humor.
I know a couple people could feel the trip the next day, but well worth it.
That was NA Champagne?
You've got a great bunch of kids, much to be proud of.
Whats next?
What tower?

Tony, is the crew that broke snow for hire?
I'm itching to get back on the trail and finish the last 7 before the dinner, wanting to test the knees...first free date is 3/31..wonder if that crew is free then?

Thanks guys for the great company and everyone's comments and congrats. I think we really have a great little community at this site!... I've always enjoyed hiking and exposing my four kids to natural things, but finishing up these peaks with my youngest was really fun. OK, finally, here are my pics.

David... snow might be gone by 3/31 is it really warms up like it's supposed to today and tomorrow. I guess winter is truly over.
Post what you need to hike, hope your knee is well though, I know you were having problems with it the last time I saw you at Magic, the Gathering.
